109 REED
STREET
I created this 40 page book to memorialize my grandmother's home, a place that I loved and where I spent many formative years. When my grandmother passed away, this home was sold and demolished. In designing this book I went through family photos and curated a selection that would evoke the feelings experienced at the house. Next I searched online to find the plans submitted for the demolition. I reread my grandmother's old books of poetry and scanned poems that were reminders for me. I then use all of these elements to bring to mind the story of my grandmother, the space she created and the impermanence of it. For example I overlaid very cold and utilitarian plans over very simple warm moments of the house to create tension within the images. The book is intended to keep the memories alive despite the ephemeral nature of material things.
