In the depths of winter, I was struck by the lost opportunity of travel websites, namely Expedia, to promote a winter getaway to somewhere warm. The campaign was born out of the idea of creating adverts in unexpected places. I sought to further push the message by creating alternate connotations where for instance instead of street salt the viewer sees margarita salt. Similarly, the curve of the plow on the truck could visually be a reminder of a surfer’s wave and the snow bank could instead be a sand dune at the beach.

Headlines are important. The purpose of this project was to create headlines and showcase them in a way that is consistent with an existing brand yet with a fresh presentation. Amazon packages are ubiquitous. The appeal of Amazon Prime is not only its wide selection of merchandise but also its incomparably reliable fast delivery. I sought to capitalize on both the familiarity of its packaging and tap into the brand’s users' trust that delivery will be timely. This campaign could go beyond billboards and be incorporated into the actual packages, with these headline stickers being added to the packages for a limited time, as a reminder to consumers that Amazon can save the day.

This assignment was to create a visual campaign that used minimal text. The concept that resonated most with me was this idea of turning the traditional approach on its head. Rather than focus on the smooth skin angle, I focused on the idea of the opposite of smooth. The strategy was to illustrate to the viewer that hair done wrong is unappealing. To accomplish this visual I used 3D models of objects that are normally smooth and utilized the Blender software to cover them in hair.
